Don has been active in civic and community affairs since his arrival in Newnan in 1989. He has held leadership roles in a number of organizations including serving as Past President of the Newnan Rotary Club, Chairman of the Board of the Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Coweta County United Way, Chairman of the University of West Georgia Newnan Advisory Board and was the recipient of the Newnan-Coweta Citizen of the Year Award in 2000. He has served on the board of directors for the Salvation Army’s Coweta County Chapter, the Boys and Girls Club of Newnan, The Flint River Council Boy Scouts of America, and Southeastern Assistance in Healthcare, the corporate board of Metalforming, Inc., the Patrons Board at the Donald W. Nixon Center for the Performing and Visual Arts Center and Wesley Woods of Newnan-Peachtree City. He continues to serve on the University of West Georgia Advisory Board. Don currently serves on the Public Finance Authority of Coweta County. He graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1969 with a B. S. degree in Marketing and an advanced degree from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking in 1987.
Don retired from banking with 45 years of service where he last served as BB&T’s Market President for Coweta and Troup counties. Don began his real estate career in 2015 and is a member of the Newnan-Coweta Board of Realtors Circle of Excellence as a Life Member.
He is an active member of the Newnan First United Methodist Church. He and his wife Ann have three adult children (Laura, David and Stephen) and five grandchildren (Finn, Bett, Andy, Eli and Teddy).
